The Macleans College 1st XI Girls’ Football team have had a successful start to the year, after the loss of six players last year.
The girls have regrouped and developed a winning formula.
With a 2-1 win over Waiuku College on Wednesday afternoon, the team have now recorded 9 wins and 2 losses this season which has given them 1st place in the Senior A1 competition. This is very significant as it now means the team have qualified for promotion up to play in the Premier division next year. This will be the first time Macleans College have played in the Premier Girls’ Football Division.
Earlier in the season they beat Western Springs College (Premier League team) 3-2 to gain entry to the National Tournament in Taupo later this year.
The team is having a fixture on Friday July 7th at 5.00pm at Macleans College. They will be playing against the Tonga Under 19 team. They are using this as a warm up before the Oceania World Cup Qualifiers held over the school holidays.
