1st XI Boys Football team win promotion to premier grade

The Macleans College 1st XI Boys Football team have secured promotion into the premier grade for the 2025 season after finishing first in the A1 league for 2024.

On Friday 23 August, the team travelled to North Harbour stadium for their final match of the season against Northcote College. To be crowned champions, the team required a win or a draw. The boys came away with a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

The team has played a strong season. After 14 weeks of competition, they recorded an impressive nine victories, four draws and only one loss - finishing three points above second place.

The team is now preparing for the premier national tournament which will be held in Auckland from 2-6 September.

A special mention to Jonathan Voges (Te Kanawa), an International student from Germany. Jonathan held a pivotal role in the team during the first half of the season.
