Hello, my name is Alessia and I come from Italy. I spent three unforgettable months in New Zealand at Macleans College and now I would like to share my experience with you.
I’m writing this report in my last days in New Zealand and I can hardly believe my time here is coming to the end.
I have enjoyed my time at Macleans College since my first day. It has given me the opportunity to experience a different school with a new organization and set of rules. I remember how impressed I was by the school's grandeur, with its endless green fields and stunning ocean views. At Macleans College, I found a stimulating and welcoming environment. All the teachers and students have been friendly and polite, and they never hesitated to help me. I integrated quickly and easily, to the point where I volunteered to help new students during my second month here.
The school offers a wide range of subjects, from theoretical to practical ones. It is also well-equipped with various tools, computers, and sports equipment, providing opportunities for a rich array of experiences. There is an abundance of extracurricular activities and sports.
I chose to study English, Biology, Photography, Textiles, and Outdoor Education. I appreciated the interactive teaching and the practical demonstrations. I joined the running club, which involves running in the morning before school, and I will never forget the experience of running on the beach at sunrise. Additionally, I enjoyed the numerous trips which the school organized.
During my stay in New Zealand, I met people from many countries and discovered different cultures and perspectives. I immediately felt at home with my welcoming host family and I built friendships that I am confident will last a lifetime. I can truly say that I have found a second home here.
This experience has helped me grow, making me more independent and confident. Previously, I was hesitant and unsure about trying new things, but now I understand the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone to continue improving. I now approach new challenges with energy and enthusiasm.
Finally, I want to mention the beauty of this country, which I explored further thanks to a trip to the South Island organized by Kiwiana Tours. I fell in love with the pristine nature, the vast beaches covered in shells, and the sight of the white mountains reflecting in the lake waters. I will always cherish the fantastic moments I experienced here. For this reason, I sincerely thank my parents and Macleans College for giving me the opportunity to live this incredible experience.
